Is your website mobile friendly for Google SEO? If not, it could negatively impact your ranking in Google's search results from April 21st, 2015. Users spend more time accessing the internet on mobile devices rather than traditional desktops, therefore your business needs to have a great mobile presence. Mobile users also tend to perform a significant amount of time researching products and services on their mobile devices.
Google announced last month that:
As more people use mobile devices to access the internet, our algorithms have to adapt to these usage patterns.
Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.
Google search engine results on mobile devices from April 21st, will therefore rank mobile friendly websites higher up the results pages.
What should I do?
Google has provided a Mobile Friendly Test Tool, that validates that your domain relates to a mobile friendly website. If the tool indicates that your website is mobile friendly then your website will appear favourably in the mobile search results of your potential online audience.
You can use our URL, ecoportal.org.uk, as an example of a mobile friendly website.
If the tool indicates that your website is not mobile friendly then your website will drop down the rankings when users search for your keywords in Google.
Google has stated that websites designed with mobile responsive themes are mobile friendly. We have a wide range of WordPress themes that will provide you a cost-efficient method of upgrading your website to be mobile friendly and achieve a higher ranking in mobile search results.
